A 48% Serious Philosophy About Stuff...

"Most of your basic "black tux" magicians specialize in looking grim and foreboding. Mysterious even. That's why they try so hard not to smile. They are afraid that smiling at someone will ruin their mystique.

I, on the other hand, have been known to leap off a stage in an elf suit while playing 'Jingle Bells' on the accordion. So much for mystique, huh?

I am an Edmonton magician, but I travel all over. All my shows are about connecting with the audience, whether I'm on stage or doing close-up magic. Big corporate trade shows or birthday parties...it's the same difference. While I think magic is very very cool...it's ultimately about using the magic to entertain people.

I do this because I really love traveling to different places, meeting new people and hearing them laugh. I still do birthday parties because I really enjoy kids. I do the big adult events for the same reason. (People are people, although adults are usually taller.)

Being an Edmonton magician (paricularly since the search engine is making me say "Edmonton magician"  as often as possible) means I learned how to do what I do in a very competitive market.

I don't do any off color material, because that's lowbrow stuff. I don't joke about politics or religion because I don't want to offend anyone. And I don't ever make fun of an audience volunteer because I don't want to get punched out.

I work hard with each client to make sure the event is BETTER than they expected. I feel strongly that you are hiring me, as a magician and a performer, onto your team. That's why I do whatever it takes to make your event shine. (I am the only Edmonton magician I know of who has walked through the Cromdale Tavern in an elf suit to get to a children's Christmas party. Let's see Rambo try that.)

It's all about the audience having a good time. The performer who thinks it's about themself is forgetting who is getting paid to perform...as well as who it's really about.

Let's face it: not everyone likes magic. But everyone likes to laugh. That’s what my shows are about: putting together a real love for magic and comedy. And, of course, avoiding a real job as long as possible…and smiles. Lots of smiles.”
